How to choose environmentally friendly and sustainable children's clothing

At Geggamoja, we think choosing environmentally friendly and sustainable children's clothing is incredibly important. Partly for the environment but also for our children's and our own future. All production affects us humans, animals and our environment, therefore it is incredibly important for us to manufacture and produce as sustainably as possible.

How do you choose environmentally friendly and sustainable children's clothing?

1. Choose natural materials instead of polyester, polyamide and acrylic
2. Buy clothes made from bamboo, organic cotton, merino wool or recycled materials.
3. Choose the right size from the start - Before shopping clothes for your child, we recommend that you find out exactly what size your child have. The idea is that you as a customer should be able to choose the right size from the start and avoid unnecessary returns. In this way, we can reduce transport costs and environmental emissions. 4. Buy children's clothing from companies that you know care about people, the environment, and sustainability.

6. Look for sustainability labels and certifications when buying environmentally friendly clothes. Below you will see different environmental labels that you will find in our assortment.

 

  -Bionic Finish ECO -  This label means that the garment has an ecological treatment. This means for example outerwear can withstand more water and has a water-repellent surface.      This surface treatment does not release dangerous substances into nature, is completely free of harmful substances such as fluorocarbons, formaldehyde and paraffin. 
    It contributes to a better future for our children, animals and the environment. All our outerwear that is wind and water resistant has Bionic Finish ECO® treatment.

  - Organic - At Geggamoja you will find this environmental labelling.  That means that the product is made from organic or more sustainable materials.

  - Woolmark – Is a symbol of quality and reliability.
     When you buy our woolen clothes, we can guarantee that you get an exclusive product of quality and that contains clean and new wool.  Our woolen clothing is approved by                     Woolmark and fulfills their strict guidelines for quality and purity. So you can feel extra safe when you buy our woolen clothes, for example our pants in merino wool. 

  - GOTS – GOTS is the most well-known certification of organically grown cotton. GOTS has high demands on the entire manufacturing process, from cultivation to harvest, and from             manufacturing to the finished product. GOTS aims to make it easier for the consumer to choose textile products where a holistic perspective has been taken into account both                   environmental and social responsibility. Geggamoja is today one of 10 companies in Sweden that are GOTS Certified. In our assortment you will find a wide range of GOTS certified             clothing.

  - OEKO-TEX– Means that the product does not contain chemicals that are dangerous to health.

  - BAMBOO COICE - At Geggamoja you will also find this label. Our bamboo fabric is a mix of bamboo, organic cotton and a small amount of elastane. The fabric is manufactured in an       Öko-tex certified factory. With us you will find a wide range of bamboo clothing.
