What outerwear should I choose?
There is talk of water pillars, breath ability, waterproof and water-repellent clothing. How to choose what is best for my child? Take it easy, we have put together a guide that may facilitate your choice.
Water-repellent / tight clothing is measured in water column (WC) and its breath ability
Water column
The water column is a measure of how high a pressure a garment can withstand before it lets water through. You can think like this:
6000-10000 mm, Heavy rain for a short time.
11000-15000 mm, Heavy rain for a few hours or moderate for a whole day.
16000-20000 mm, heavy rain, wet snow.
20000 +, persistent rain under high pressure. Here are only garments that have a professional function to withstand heavy rain. The garment does not breathe at all.
Breathability
Here we check how many grams of liquid a garment can release on a square meter in a day.
The more waterproof a garment is, the worse its ability to breathe
Our garment
The shell garments have a long lifespan throughout the year, they work in autumn, winter and spring. When it gets cooler outside, you can add fleece garments and use the three layer principle. They withstand water and wind well. Read more about layer upon layer here.
The overalls are lined and are very suitable for winter and snow. They keep the baby warm and dry all day.
Rain wear has poorer breath ability but they are easier to rinse off with mud and dirt. Great to wear to preschool when you want the clothes to be dry for the next break.
Do not forget to supplement with boots, mittens and gloves and of course our nice hats.
